Asian Carp sampling operation anticipated near
O'Brien Locks in next 4 to 8 weeks

CHICAGO - The Monitoring and Sampling work group of the Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee is in the process of finalizing a fish sampling strategy that they will begin employing soon. Information for on-going sampling efforts can be found on the Asian Carp Management website.

This plan includes upcoming sampling efforts in the vicinity of the O'Brien locks, and will require the establishment of a safety zone restricting canal access for a period of 5-7 days. The U.S. Coast Guard anticipates that this sampling operation will begin sometime in the next 4 to 8 weeks. While we do not yet have exact dates or mile marker designations, we will make every effort to provide a more detailed information as soon as possible.

For further inquiries, contact the Ninth Coast Guard District Public Affairs Office at 216-902-6020.
